Happy National Wine Day

“Either give me more wine or leave me alone” – Rumi

Today is National Wine Day! (Not to be confused with drink wine day, which was February 18th). It just so happens to fall on a Friday this year. I know I know, we should have the day off to celebrate. But what better way to kick off your Memorial Day Weekend than grabbing your favorite bottle of wine and getting wine wasted. Okay. So maybe we won’t get wine wasted, but we’ll sure have some fun drinking. In honor of National Wine Day I will share 5 wine bars/wine happy hours in New York that is a must for all my wine lovers.

 1.  Bibi

Located in the East Village this little wine bar was my go to spot. A cozy little bar that offers happy hour from 5pm to 8pm daily and $20 bottle of wine. Now it is only one bottle per person, but you can’t beat that! The atmosphere is relaxed and lit by candlelight. It offers an intimate setting for any first date. If you are looking for a quiet place to have a drink or two this is definitely it! Stop by, get yourself a bottle of Rose, try the cheese platter (which is AMAZING!) and play some of the board games.

 2.  Corkbuzz Wine Studio

Wine for lunch? Wine not! The Corkbuzz has two locations in the city. At the Chelsea Market location they offer a daytime happy hour. From 12pm to 5pm every day you can enjoy a glass of wine for $8. The Union Square location may not have $8 wine but they do offer a blind tasting happy hour. For $15 you can choose from red or white flights for the perfect objective tasting. And if you want to keep the bubbly flowing the champagne campaign is offered at both locations, Monday through Saturday from 9pm to close and all day Sunday. Where all bottles of champagne are half off! So drink up! And don’t worry the kitchen will be open all night to feed your wine induced cravings.

 3.  Ayza Wine & Chocolate Bar

A midtown bar that offers a sweet happy hour from 3pm to 6pm Monday through Thursday and 3pm to 5:30pm on Fridays which you can indulge in $5 wines or $8 cocktails. Known for their chocolate drinks, which are just as sweet as it sounds, and their pairing of wine and cheese. This is the perfect after work wine down or a sweet date. They offer over 100 wines and champagne. And we can’t forget the girls’ night out on Tuesdays. When you make a reservation through Find a Table and use the code (Girls’ Night Out) you will receive a complimentary chocolate shot and a Belgian Chocolate Covered Strawberry.

 4.  Vin Sur Vingt

A wine lover’s heaven. With five locations throughout New York City getting your wine fix is feat. Offering a vast wine selection with over 250 wines by the bottle and 50 wines by the glass there will be no shortage of options. Giving an authentic resemblance to the Bar A Vin in France you will feel as if you are where it all started. The Happy hour special run until 6pm everyday with $10 for a glass of wine from their rotating wine selection and 25% off any bottle of wine after 10pm. Complimentary wine tasting is offered each Monday at 7:30pm only at the West Village location.

 5.  Ardensia Wine Bar

Tucked away on 52nd Street Ardensia is both old and modern architecture. There are over 20 different wines by the glass and 100 by the bottle. There are two options for the wine lovers: Happy hour that runs from 4pm to 7pm or the wine social. The happy hour special is $2 off all wines by the glass. Now for the wine social which is only offered on Saturdays you can enjoy a flight of 5 different wines for only $30. And since it is officially Rose season this month’s social is featuring 5 of the best rose wines. We love a place that caters to our seasonal wine needs!

Now that you have 5 of my must visit wine bars in New York. Why are you still reading this? Head out to enjoy National Wine Day and have a glass or two for me. Until next time…
